Community & Charitable Services

The Community & Charitable Services Program gives students the opportunity to organize and give back to the community. In the past, students have participated in service work such as Relay For Life, Aids Walk, Watershed Restoration, and local service projects. Currently, our biggest project is our Annual Felix Ventures Toy Drive.

Toy Drive

Since 2003, Felix Ventures has benefited local homeless families and low-income families with children between the ages of 2 to 15. Most recently, the Toy Drive has served families participating in transitional housing programs supported by the East San Gabriel Valley Coalition for the Homeless, as well as low-income families and children in the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District.

Our service project begins in October and goes until December:

  • October: We work on selecting the shelter/non-profit to donate, posters, advertising, preparing to speak with businesses human resource managers, and visit local businesses to ask for toy donations.

  • November: We continue to work on the advertisement, work with Workman High School to obtain donations, begin making decorations based on the theme for the year, and begin organizing donations.

  • December: We finalize with obtaining the list of toy recipients, finish toy drive collection, finish making decorations, organize and separate toys, set up decorations, begin caroling practice, choose and wrap toys specifically for every child, and give out the toys with our annual program.

Christmas Celebration

Felix Ventures recognizes that too many families struggle to provide their children with Christmas gifts. For fifteen years, the Toy Drive has delivered toys to 80-200 children annually in a grand Christmas Celebration.

Currently, The Christmas Celebration takes place at Workman High School. The Christmas Celebration includes:

  • Santa Claus & his Caroling Elves

  • Snacks & Drinks

  • Arts & Crafts

  • Gifts for children ages 2-15

Volunteering

High school volunteers run and organize the Toy Drive, which runs through three months of preparation before the big day. Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate at any time and as much as they can. Students and adults are able to obtain community service hours thru our events.  If you are interested in participating please contact us.

Dates

Please see our calendar for our date, time, and location for volunteer opportunities.
